Summer and winter. The active holiday is right here!
The Emilia-Romagna Apennine is a place where everybody has fun. Offers are available for every budget, ensuring high quality. This is the greenest region of Italy, as proved by these numbers: 2 national parks – the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano National Park and the Foreste Casentinesi, Mount Falterona and Campigna National Park – 12 regional parks, 13 nature reserves. Not to mention the state reserves and wetlands. It is a green and protected treasure, which is now a well-organized tourist destination.
In winter, in its fifteen ski resorts offering 300 km of ski runs, snow is the main protagonist. Here it is possible to practice several activities, from snowboarding to kite surfing and ice climbing. The main ski resorts are Monte Cimone (Mo), Corno alle Scale (Bo) and Cerreto Laghi (Re). But you will also find particularly beautiful and well-organized smaller winter resorts located between Piacenza and Romagna.
And when summer comes, you can enjoy the real adventure holiday by practicing trekking, tarzaning, orienteering or hydrospeed! The largest Italian adventure park is called Cerwood and is located on the Reggiano Apennine, in Cervarezza to be precise, and offers 21 tracks among the trees. But this is not the only one, since ten more adventure parks are found in the Apennines with their breathtaking proposals.
The Po Delta Park is one of the most important wetlands in Europe and is particularly appreciated by naturalists, biologists and birdwatchers for its unique features: over 52,000 hectares of land, in the provinces of Ferrara and Ravenna, the richest ones in terms of biodiversity and theater of many ecological initiatives from spring to fall. But that is not all.
The most active people will undoubtedly enjoy a wide choice of sports activities: among them, the favorite one is cycling, which special services, modern facilities, chair-lifts and professionalism are dedicated to.
Those who enjoy more relaxing activities can go fishing along the rivers, or walking through the dense network of paths that during any season will guide you into the gentle nature of the Apennines, or playing golf on courses plunged into silence.
But everyone knows that holidays whet the appetite. So, there is nothing better than discovering a farm holiday center – there are 346 throughout the region - or sitting at a table and tasting tagliatelle and a good glass of wine, or travelling through the Strade dei vini e dei sapori (Routes of wine and food) that cross the territory with their specialties, just to make your mouth water!
In other words, on foot, by bike or on horseback, in summer or in winter, the Emilia-Romagna Apennine offers an infinite amount of opportunities.
