Ski Complex in Cimone

The ski resort in Cimone is one of the largest ski centers in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines with 50 km of slopes and a unique electronic ski-pass, 26 slopes all connected to one another, and 21 very modern lifts including a 6-seater ski-lift.  And of course snowboarding parks, kids' parks, and artificial snow.

The complex gets its name from the highest mountain in the northern Apennines: Cimone, 2165 m high. At its foot there are the towns of Montecreto, Fanano, Riolunato and Sestola.

New this year. At the Snowboarding park in Cimone fans will find a lot of new things. The classic half pipe will allow for a little experimentation: new jumps made for beginners and for experts in the Jump area near the chill-out area. As for rails, there is a whole range from a singular one to a triple tube rail.  And there will be many more challenges such as the caterpillar wheel.  In the Easy area, there will be small jumps for beginners, while in the Jump Zone there are medium to large jumps.  At Cimone, you can also do snowcross: driving a sort of snow bicycle where instead of wheels, there is a snowboard. This season, Cimone will have 4 instead of 3 snowcross trails, thanks to the creation of a new trail in Pian del Falco, with ski-lift service.  But on Cimone you can also “sail” with the snowkite or dive into the woods with the two cross-country skiing circuits or the trail for dog-sledding, without forgetting the snowshoeing outings or horseback riding.

Offers. Feel like skiing? The weekend of December 17 and 18 will be dedicated to the first snow of the season and will cost 72 euro per person, including one night in a hotel, two day ski-pass, and a “happy break” on the slopes in the afternoon on Saturday. The pre-Christmas package from December 21-24 with three nights, breakfast and lunch, and a three day ski-pass costs 182 euro per person. On Cimone (Mo) you can create a personalized vacation. For example, 2 nights with breakfast in a hotel, plus a 2-weekday ski-pass, costs 106 euro per person.

Ski pass prices 2011-2012. At Cimone (Mo) a daily ski-pass costs 33 euro on weekends and holidays and 26 euro for weekdays, which is unchanged from last year. Seasonal ski-pass : 548 euro, kids 364.

Not just skiing. By now, Cimone is known as the capital of adventure sports in the snow. Besides the super outfitted ski-boarding areas, you can also now try snow kite (www.atraction.it) being towed by a kite for 50/70 km, paragliding or dog sledding, or digital scooping to photograph the animals in the Regional Park.

Otherwise, at any time you can take a walk in the woods with snowshoes, go horseback riding in the snow, or snowmobiling at night. Cimone is also the kids' capital thanks to four kids' parks. Right nearby there are also the cross-country tracks in a natural setting at Lago della Ninfa (5km), Cimoncino (5km) and Polle (2km). (www.cimonesci.it and www.vallidelcimone.it)
