Christmas markets 2014

The magic of Christmas can be felt on the streets and in the squares of the towns and cities of art in Emilia Romagna, where there will be many colorful markets set up for this holiday.

From gift ideas to curious objects, from crafts to typical local foods and the delicious treats of the holidays on display, the Christmas markets make the atmosphere of the historic downtowns unique and they become an ideal place to meet with friends and families.

Going from North to South, the first stop is that of "Grazzano Visconti's Christmas", in this medieval town near Piacenza, where you can walk among the streets and stores surrounded by delightful crafts and artistic items, wrought iron goods, perfumes, soaps, sweets, honey, decorations and much more.  There will also be entertainment such as the Medieval Music Concert, the Great Santa Claus Walk, exhibitions, nativity scenes and workshops for kids.  December 6, 2014 - January 6, 2015.

At the "Christmas Markets" in Parma, those who love Nordic traditions can dive into this atmosphere inspired by the traditional markets in Trentino.  On the days leading up to Christmas, you can wander among the many stands under a covered structure in piazza Ghiaia. December 7, 8, 14, 21.

On the same days in Reggio Emilia and in the suburban towns nearby, you can experience the small town feeling of this holiday season with stands selling gifts, shows, music, songs, carolers, and entertainment for kids.  December 7, 8, 14, 21.

Several traditional Christmas markets are to be found in Bologna as well. The "Antica Fiera di Santa Lucia" until December 28 will, as always, be held under the monumental porticoes of the Santa Maria dei Servi Church. This historic fair dates back to the end of the 16th century and has welcomed generations of families preparing for Christmas. There is also a vast range of gift ideas at the "Christmas Fair" (until January 7) next to St. Peter's Cathedral, in the heart of downtown Bologna.

Then there is Christmas in downtown Ferrara where the streets and squares will shine with a wide range of offers, making a walk around town into a fascinating experience with wandering shows, stands selling local foodstuffs, tastings and local products, books, crafts, and Christmas objects.  Until January 11, 2015.

The events continue in Romagna, among curious gifts and special deals.

Such as in Forlì where the Christmas Market set up under the Clock Tower will offer good food and unique gifts everyday until January 6.  Also in the center of town, on the three Sundays leading up to Christmas, even more great objects can be found at the Markets of the Christmas Sundays. December 7, 14, 21. Another event not to be missed is on December 13 with the Saint Lucia Fair which, celebrated in honor of the Saint, offers tasty nougat to all women that visit the market.

In Cesena, the Christmas Fair brings together 150 workers who will impress the public with many gift ideas at great prices and also irresistible sweets.  The stores for this occasion will stay open while the Christmas Train guides young and old along the streets of the center and the most sporty can have some fun on the ice skating rink.  December 7, 14, 21.

There are many typical products on sale or to taste also at the markets in Cesenatico, in the magic atmosphere of the port canal which, with the lights and Christmas decorations, becomes even more lovely.  December 7 – January 6, 2015. This year, fun will reign at the Santa Claus Village Cesenatico, a place where there really is not time to get bored.  In this great village dedicated to Santa Claus, a 25,000 square meter area, besides the fun entertainment for everyone, there will also be a big market-exhibition and food stands, all under a covered structure.  Until January 6, 2015.

The opportunity to shop under the sparkling lights of Christmas, and also visit historic downtown and admire historic UNESCO monuments, can be had at the "Christmas markets" in Ravenna starting on until January 4. From the historic market of artistic and creative hobbies to the Christmas Market in the square or the original Green Health Market, the exhibition market of typical agricultural and organic products of Romagna businesswomen, the City of Ravenna exhibition market of antiques and crafts, and the Flower Market.  The Christmas feeling can be felt along every street and in every square in this city of art.

The ancient town of Sant'Agata Feltria, one of the most characteristic towns of the Montefeltro territory, just inland from Rimini, will celebrate the holidays transforming itself in a big Christmas Town. Markets of every kind and Santa Claus's band.  Little kids should come to Santa Claus's House with the elves, where reindeer pull a sled guided by a Lapp.  December 7, 8, 14, 21.

For those who want to spend the holidays in Riccione, colored houses will be set up at the Riccione Christmas Village offering passersby fun games and typical local products as well as Christmas items.  The Ferris wheel and the longest ice skating rink in Europe make this village worth a visit for sure.  Until January 11, 2015.
