Masterpieces of the Russian State Museum of Saint Petersburg

MAMbo - Museo d'Arte Moderna di Bologna - Via Don Minzoni, 14

Bologna (BO)

About 70 works, real masterpieces from the State Russian Museum of St. Petersburg, on show at MAMbo – Bologna Modern Art Museum.
The Russian avantgard art is one of the most important and radical chapters. The ten-year period from 1910 to 1920 saw the vertiginous development of vanguard schools, associations and movements, which were totally opposite one to the other.

The exhibition "REVOLUTIJA. Da Chagall a Malevich, da Repin a Kandinsky. Capolavori dal Museo di Stato Russo di San Pietroburgo" (REVOLUTIJA. From Chagall to Malevich, from Repin to Kandinsky. Masterpieces from the State Russian Museum of St. Petersburg), traces the styles and the evolution of artists such as Nathan Altman, Natalia Goncharova, Kazimir Malevich, Wassily Kandinsky, Marc Chagall, Valentin Serov, Alexandr Rodchenko and many others, in order to show the great modernity of the cultural movements in early 1900s Russia: from primitivism to cubo-futurism, up to the suprematism, contemporary creating a chronological parallelism with the figurative expressionism and the pure abstract art.

REVOLUTIJA. Da Chagall a Malevich, da Repin a Kandinsky is produced and organized by CMS. Cultura, in partnership with Comune di Bologna - Istituzione Bologna Musei, and is realized thanks to the exclusive collaboration with the State Russian Museum of St. Petersburg. Curators of the exhibition are Evgenia Petrova (deputy director of the State Russian Museum) and Joseph Kiblitsky.
