ATTENTION! This event has endedHistory and traditions linked to the pig and its gastronomic use.
Created as a tribute to pork, this event reenacts the traditional rituals associated with pork and cooking for those who would like to rediscover these traditions and ancient flavors.
Opening the event on Saturday night is the "vigil" with songs and old stories, just as farmers used to do in the past. On Sunday morning, the animals will be blessed after the Holy Mass, which will be held in the church in front of the tower.
The butchering of the pig will show those present how pork is cut and prepared, with the production of salamis, sausages, "cotechini", and cracklings.
The meat will be prepared by professionals who will cut ribs, pancetta, liver and other delicacies which will be sold both raw or cooked right there on the grill and served with Romagna piada (bread), a side of cabbage or another seasonal vegetable, and a good glass of Sangiovese wine, the local red.
