Is social democracy dead? Democracy, welfare, work

Various locations

Forlì (FC)

Sixth edition of 900fest, dedicated to social democracy: tracing back the “glorious thirty years” (1945-1975) that, together with the economic boom, witnessed the birth of a state model in Europe, the welfare state, whose aim is to ensure to the inhabitants’ education, health care, annuities and unemployment insurance, we intend to provide some facts about our time.

Many people, among the causes of the crisis of democracy and the populism movements, recognize the weakening of the systems of social protection that led to the “left behind” phenomenon, concerning the working class, the service labours and the middle class abandoned by the institutions; the phenomenon was worsened by the economic crisis in 2008 and by increasing inequality. Welfare is considered today as a crucial matter for the survival of Europe.

Date: the event will be held on Oct 23, 2019, Oct 24, 2019, Oct 25, 2019, Oct 26, 2019
