Carpets of fresh flowers to celebrate Corpus Domini

ATTENTION! This event has endedThis event takes place every year to celebrate the festival of Corpus Domini. Carpets of fresh flowers, intricately designed with decorative and religious symbols, are laid out along the old "Via Tamburù". There are between 10 and 20 compositions.
At sunrise on the day of Corpus Domini, Via Tamburù comes to life: first of all, outlines of the designs are traced out in coloured chalk. Next, the spaces are carefully filled in with the chosen colours; the lightest petals are soaked in water so that they are not blown away by the wind.
At 12.00 the religious procession takes place, and, although this is quite a narrow road, only the priest carrying the Ostensory treads on the floral mantle, which remains intact until the evening.
