FRUTTI ANTICHI
Ancient Fruits
Paderna's Castle
Paderna di Pontenure (PC)
The castle of Paderna, a jewel of the Duchy Castles Association, hosts this nature exhibition, in its 17th edition.
By visiting 'Frutti Antichi' you'll discover flower nurseries, open space furnishing, wine and distlilled drinks production; from decorating to clothing to landscaping with a touch of creativity!
The research began with the discovery of local peculiarities, then later extended to other Italian regions such as old varieties of beans, potatoes and pumpkins, as well as grapevines, with particular interest from "slow food" associations.
"Frutti Antichi" was born mainly as an "apple exhibition", with a rich selection of old and local varieties, of the Tidone and Trebbia Valleys, to which the Associations of Spadana of Ranzone, Aurunca of Morano, the ancient Piemonte apples, and the Cremona and Mantova producers have been added with more varieties of almost disappeared apples.
The Farmer Association provides a seeds and grafts exchange; it will be possible to talk to experts at the exhibition and during conferences. The Garden around the castle is mainly dedicated to flower and plant sellers.
"Frutti Antichi" is not only a "scientific"exhibition, it's a great fair where you can find glass and leather artisans, ancient fabrics, basket makers, collector's roses, organic and biodynamic plants, decorations or bohemian lamps; where colours and perfumes will mingle with the laughter of children busy in interesting but fun laboratories. This year the spotlight is on Italian patriarch vegetables.
The charming castle of Paderna, with its arcades, towers and moat full of fish and ducks, gives you the chance to enjoy the day with the family, strolling through the stands and tasting food specialties.
