CARNEVALE DI CASTELNOVO DI SOTTO
Castelnovo di Sotto Carnival. 129th edition
Piazza Prampolini and neighbouring streets
The Castelnovo di Sotto Carnival, the most important in the province of Reggio Emilia, is characterized by traditional parades with carnival floats and masked bands.
It derives from the culture and civilization of the agricultural world, and its typical mask is the "Castlein".
The creation of paper-pulp carnival floats is a true art form, on which the local artisans work all year.
The event is an opportunity to visit neighbouring villages, the "Carnival Mask Museum", and also taste the typical local specialities.
