IL PRESEPE MULTIETNICO DELLA NAPOLI DEL '700
Multiethnic Crib of Naples in the XVIII century
Reggio Emilia (RE)
Nativity scene made by the artist Salvatore Carulli, born in Avellino in 1951, who has lived and worked in Reggio Emilia since 1974.
The nativity depicting the "Breast-feeding Virgin Mary", an 18 square-metre three-dimensional scenic work, meets all the stylistic methods of the classical XVIII-century Neapolitan nativity, and forms a part of a triptych including two works by the same artist: the nativity scene of the "Virgin Mary in childbed" and the scene of the "Black Virgin", which were displayed in the Parmeggiani Gallery in the past.
Portrayal of the multiethnic, rich, poor, middle-class and miserly people who play, laugh, dance, eat, work, cry, have fun and despair in daily life as well as in cosmopolitan Naples of the XVIII century.
Date: the event will be held from Nov 30, 2013 to Jan 12, 2014
