For those who love wine, this event in Bagnacavallo is a must. This lovely little town just inland from Ravenna hosts this event aimed at helping people get to know the vast array of Italian wine through tastings of various types of wine from forty prestigious producers. May 24-25.

For those who love fish, a visit to Gorino Ferrarese, a small fishing town on the coast, is a must.  Every weekend in May and June this traditional event will offer visitors traditional fish dishes at very affordable prices.  Until June 24.

Carved out during the restoration of the monumental complex of the Chiesa dei Servi, the Center is a vast building that hosts different expressions of the food culture. Casa Artusi with its library, restaurant, cooking school, wine cellar, and events area is a museum of home cooking.

19th century rose liquor, "rosolio"

In the past, this liquor could always be found in people's homes and was older ladies' favorite liquor. Tasty, sweet and with low alcohol content, it was served after meals or at social events where it was served in little glasses. The classic recipe includes ground up rose petals which  are  abbundant in the month if May.
