European Heritage Days 2012
On Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30 the European Heritage Days will be celebrated in our country; this event was begun in 1991 by the European Council in order to favor dialogue and intercultural exchanges among the European nations.
The main goal of these Days is to make European citizens aware of the wealth and diversity of culture in Europe by creating an ideal climate for more tolerance which goes beyond national borders; it is also important that through this initiative the public and the political world become more aware of the importance of protecting the historic cultural heritage that distinguishes this part of the world.
For the occasion, the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage will take part in this event through its central and territorial institutions which, besides having organized events for the occasion, will open all state run art galleries and museums to the public, free of charge.
In Emilia Romagna, this festival will take on the form of many events with openings of museums and galleries, presentations of restorations and urban development, exhibitions, conventions, learning activities, guided visits, nature walks, concerts and shows.
