Throughout the months of June and July, there will continue to be many opportunities to leap back in time and relive ancient splendors or happenings which changed history in many places of our region.
From June 29 to July 1, the 23rd Mediaeval Festival event in the old town of Brisighella, just inland from Ravenna, will be drawing inspiration from the contents of mediaeval artistic and literary production, with particular reference to Platonic/Aristotelian thought as interpreted in the Christian middle ages. In the historic centre of one of Italy’s most beautiful towns, the alleyways, piazzas, buildings and churches will be decorated accordingly.
In the Romagna-Tuscany area, the center of Premilcuore, just inland from Forlí, from 30 June to 1 July, will be transformed into a medieval village thanks to the "Countess of the Castles". The competition will be held among the three ancient communities of Montalto, Castel dell'Alpe and Premilcuore, which will reenact the happenings in the years around 1400 with armed battles as well as fun events such as a medieval dinner in a wonderfully evocative setting.
An invitation to emerge yourself in the Fairy Tale Nights at the medieval festival of Grazzano Visconti, just inland from Piacenza on June 29th and 30th. During these timeless nights, this late medieval town will be engulfed by an enchanted atmosphere, where fantasy and reality mix, giving life to an unreal world with dames and knights, dragons and jokers, fire-eaters and fortune tellers. On each night, there will also be excellent food in great company in our medieval Hostaria with rivers of wine and beer.
In the enchanting setting of the canal port of Bellaria and of Borgata Vecchia of Bellaria Igea Marina, from July 13 to 15, the Saracen Festival will take place, an extraordinary reenactment in costumes to commemorate the epoch in which the Turks were threatening the coast. More than three hundred eccentric personalities will participate in this landing thanks to mooring of ten historic sailboats along the canal port. Then this parade will wind its way through the streets of the town where there will be many spectators to witness the fighting of the Company at Arms and the entertaining belly dancers until the winning "Saracen Horse Fair".
