Home Gardening, what a passion!

Gardening, what a passion!

For those with a green thumb, for those who love flowers, gardening and herbs, the events dedicated to all things green continue.  The next stop on the calendar is in Santarcangelo di Romagna, just inland from Rimini.  In the ancient town centre, nurseries and growers will decorate the square with the colours of spring for the market exhibition and the gardening competition called “Balconi fioriti”, which will be held on the weekend of May 17 and 18.  Alongside this event will be a small market of crafts, old objects, natural products and herbal goods.

The best of the best of landscape artists and architects from all over the world, representing more than 50 cities and as many Italian and foreign companies, will meet up in Cervia-Milano Marittima to participate in this great outdoor floral exhibition. It is the event “Cervia Garden City” which transforms the herb gardens and flower gardens of the city into true works of art. This expo, which will be inaugurated on May 24 and 25 with many events and exhibitions, can be visited until the end of September at various points around Cervia, Milano Marittima, Pinarella and Tagliata.  Also Fashion Night in Milano Marittima will take on the floral theme, and on May 24 until midnight will offer concerts, tastings, shows and shops open late.

If you love herbs and you want to enrich your gardens with colourful and aromatic ones that are also very useful in the kitchen, we recommend visiting the lovely hillside town of Casola Valsenio (Ra) which will host, on May 25, an important Garden of Herbs as part of the Herbs in Bloom event.  This festival offers learning tours, workshops, guided visits, tastings of menus based on flowers, and meetings on the curative properties of herbs and their uses in cooking.  You can also buy plants, seeds and their derivatives or walk among the terraced garden just breathing in the sweet smelling magical atmosphere.+

Colours and smells will also invade the air in Busseto (Pr) for the occasion of "Ortocolto", the market festival which together with agricultural biodiversity takes a look also at cultural and nutritional biodiversity.  There will be experts in botany and landscaping and craftsmen who use natural materials as well as typical local food to taste all outdoors.  There will also be many conferences on sustainability, botany and science.  For both adults and children there will be many opportunities to have some good, clean fun.  May 31 – June 2.

And for those who would like to spend a few days outside in touch with nature, there are many guided excursions on schedule, in the wetlands and along the Po river, in the woods and parks, or you can visit the salt flats.
