Pink Night

The Pink Side of the Moon” is the official slogan of the seventh edition of Pink Night, being held on Friday July 6, 2012, with hundreds of moon-themed events, that will go on for the whole weekend.

This big event will be held along all 110 km of the Adriatic Riviera of Emilia Romagna, from Comacchio to Cattolica, and all the beaches in between: Ravenna, Cervia-Milano Marittima, Cesenatico, Gatteo Mare, Savignano Mare, San Mauro Mare, Bellaria-Igea Marina, Rimini, Riccione and Misano Adriatico.

The official promotional image of this event is dedicated to the landing on the moon in 1969.

There are also plenty of retrospectives and tributes on the packed calendar of moon-themed events: from Ludovico Ariosto to Pink Floyd, from Jules Verne to Federico Fellini, as well as Michael Jackson (famous for his moonwalk), Beethoven, the very Italian Loredana Bertè, George Melies and his famous “Journey to the Moon” from 1902, Italo Calvino, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Tonino Guerra and many, many more. A particular tribute will be made to Lucio Dalla and his famous song “L’Ultima Luna” (Last Moon).

As for concerts, everything will be quite "pink": there will be Giorgia with her new album Dietro le Apparenze (Friday, July 6 in Piazzale Fellini in Rimini), Arisa with songs from her new CD "Amami" (Friday in downtown Misano Adriatico) and also Nina Zilli and Noemi (performing together with La Pina, Saturday, July 7, on the Radio Deejay stage in Piazzale Roma, Riccione), Loredana Bertè (Saturday, July 7 in Rimini) and Malika Ayane (Sunday, July 8, for the concert at dawn on the beach in front of Riminiterme).

Men will also be well represented, from Samuele Bersani (Friday, July 6 at the Arena della Regina in Cattolica), and Elio e Le Storie Tese (Friday, July 6 at Lido delle Nazioni), as well as Francesco Renga (always on Friday at the port canal of Bellaria Igea Marina) and I Nomadi, Luca Carboni and Pierdavide Carone (performing on Friday evening on the Radio Bruno stage in Piazza Costa in Cesenatico). And then there will be Morgan, deejaying for a night (with a set on Saturday, July 7 at 4 am, on the beach of Beky Bay in Bellaria), Sonohra (July 7 at Lido delle Nazioni), the singer-songwriter Dente (Sunday, July 8, at Corte degli Agostiniani in Rimini), without forgetting the Mirko Casadei Beach Band (Friday in Piazza Romagna Mia in Gatteo Mare).

There will also be "exotic" music, with the live performance of Nils Frahm, the main star of the Berlin electronic-neoclassic music scene, who will perform on Friday, July 6 as part of the Assalti al Cuore Festival (Lapidario Romano of the City Museum in Rimini and the concerts of the 23rd edition of the Ravenna Festival dedicated to Egberto Gismonti, a legendary Brazilian musician. Friday, July 6, in the beautiful Brancaleone Fortress in Ravenna, there will be Gismonti in concert with Nana Vasconcelos, while on Saturday, July 7, again at the Brancaleone Fortress, Gismonti will perform with the Trio Madeira and with Hamilton de Holanda, considered one of the best mandolin players in the world.

For those who love neoclassical music, again as part of the Ravenna Festival, on Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7, Maestro Muti will conduct the Youth Orchestra Luigi Cherubini in "Nobilissima Visione" and "Sancta Susanna" at the Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna; both works are by the German composor Paul Hindemith.

The shows: comedies, emotions and fireworks

Many events will enliven the most beautiful places of the Riviera from dawn until dusk.  The main monuments will be lit with pink lighting and stores, restaurants, bars, museums and bathing establishments will be open all night long.

Among the shows, visitors should not miss out on Sonia Bergamasco and Fabrizio Gifuni, who will perform on Saturday, July 7 at the Lapidario Romano of the City Museum in Rimini as part of the Assalti al Cuore Festival with "Un’amicizia in versi: Attilio Bertolucci e Pier Paolo Pasolini”.

Also dedicated to the genius of Pasolini is an exhibition of drawings (Palazzo del Podestà in Rimini, from July 6) that this director did for the set designs of “La Terra vista dalla Luna” (Earth Seen from the Moon), as well as a meeting about the creation of the film “La Terra vista dalla Luna” with Vincenzo Mollica and the semiologist Paolo Fabbri (Friday, July 6, Corte degli Agostiniani, at 9pm) following the showing of the film.

Among the stars of this year's Pink Night are of course the Italian astronaut Umberto Guidoni, who on Friday, July 6 in Rimini, will host a meeting on moon activity and his latest book "From the Earth to the Moon". And again, at dawn on Saturday, July 7, on the beach in Rimini, there will be a tribute to Tonino Guerra and to his poetry, with “Odiséa”, a re-reading in dialect of the journey of Ulysses.

Non-stop laughter in Riccione on Friday, July 6 with the show by comedian Paolo Cevoli, while in Cervia-Milano Marittima, on Friday and Saturday, on the water in front of the free beach, the show "Fous de bassin" will be held by the French company Ilotopie. Opening this extraordinary aquatic circus show will be the arrival of a small car, a Fiat Cinquecento, moving along the water.

In Bellaria Igea-Marina, there will be many events for little ones with the Pink Night for Kids, a highly anticipated program of events scheduled for Saturday, July 7, with kids as the undisputed stars on the beach, in the streets and in the parks.

In Comacchio, the "Trepponti", the symbol of this lagoon town, will be lit up with pink lights, making it into a very particular "living room".

At midnight, the whole audience of the Pink Night will meet up on the beaches to see the fireworks frame the beautiful moon, waning just 3 days after the full moon.
