Nature and the Apennines
Argenta, probably of Roman origins, is now one of the main towns in the province of Ferrara, with a modern aspect, due to its reconstruction after the Second World War.

Just outside the town centre, along the road leading to the Campotto nature reserve, is the charming Romanesque Pieve di San Giorgio, the oldest church in Ferrara region (6th century), with a portal dating from 1122, surmounted by a lunette containing a carved Martyrdom of St. George.

From a naturalistic point of view, Argenta territory is one of the most interesting in Ferrara province, for the presence of one of the few “Ecomuseums” in Italy.

The area is also appreciated for it's gastronomy and presented as one of the locations of the “Strada dei vini e dei sapori” (Food and wine route).
Don't miss
The Campotto Oasis and the Ecomuseum offer an itinerary for exploring the 6th Station of the Po Delta Park. One of the most fascinating parts of the park which is home to an extraordinary number of plants and animal species.
