Tourist Area
Municipality dating back to the Napoleonic period, it’s divided into two parts: S. Bernardino and S. Giovanni; the village is today a rural and tourist resort in Nure Valley and is characterised by a natural environment where uncontaminated landscapes go along with examples of industrial archaeology, in a setting rich in typical boroughs and natural itineraries.
Local historians say Christopher Columbus was born here. An important event for the whole Nure Valley is the weekly market. Every Monday the beautiful Piazza Colombo is crowded with stalls and commercial stands attracting visitors from the whole valley.
S. Bernardino and S. Giovanni churches are worth seeing. Nearby there are the Farnese Tower, the interesting Vigolo and Rossoreggio castles, while in Pradello it is possible to admire ‘Torre dei Colombo’ (Columbus Tower).
The area is part of the following horseways: ‘Ippovia – Andando per castelli’ and ‘La Grande Ippovia - Appennino Emilia Romagna’.
