The town lies in a hollow surrounded by the Vena del Gesso (Chalk Vein and nearby hills.
In Borgo Rivola is the Grotto of King Tiberius which is 349 metres long and in which human remains dating back to prehistoric times have been found.
It is also an example of the karst phenomena on chalk.
The town boasts a busy calendar of events with the "Wake Up Festival" on the first Sunday in April with excursions to the Chalk Vein and a market selling Springtime goods, and the "Pumpkin and Bacarona Grape Festival" on the second Sunday in October with the sale and tasting of produce.
