Situated directly behind the seaside resort of Marina Romea. The Barenicolo grassland, dedicated to the illustrious naturalist Pietro Zangheri, is a grassland swamped by salt water from the tideways at high tide.
It hosts a flora (Salicornieti, Limonieto, etc.) and a fauna (Avocette, Cavalieri d'Italia, Limicoli, Laridi) typical of shallow marshlands.
The dunes south of the River Lamone outlet still represent a natural and interesting area in the spaces between the beach bars with their typical psammophilous vegetation.
