Leguigno
Province:
Reggio Emilia (32 km)
Altitude: 600-800 mt. a.m.s.l
Tourist Area
From Leguigno the view takes in the peaks of the "del Gigante" Park, the valleys below and reaches even as far as the Val d’Enza and further towards Parma.
Under different names, such as Avigno, Agrigno and Lagogna (which suggests a link to the word "lago" or lake), the settlement has been referred to since the times of Matilde di Canossa.
Of interest is Leguigno Castle of which a modest portion of the central part remains. It is framed by two four-sided towers that can be seen from afar.
Entry is not permitted, but the walls, as well as a part of the internal gardens, can be seen.
