Tourist Area
This is the chief town of a collection of small villages, such as Cadonega, Corte, and Minghetta, which are characterised by houses in the form of towers – a typical feature of the entire Viano Valley, and probably dating to the late medieval period.
Nearby is a 14th C castle where the oldest part of the settlement is situated.
The area comprising the Municipality of Viano is called Querciolese due to an abundance of a particular species of oak (Querciolo), and occupies a hollow which is in the form of a hammer.
