A sea of music 2014

Once again this year you can spend your holiday in Romagna in the company of great music and prestigious international and Italian artists.  With concerts at sunset and sunrise, musical festivals on the beach and in the towns nearby, here are the main events of the packed musical program of the Adriatic Coast .

In Ravenna do not miss the longest running organ event in Italy, the 53rd International Festival of Organ Music , where the best international artists come to perform playing the ancient Mascioni organ in the beautiful Basilica di San Vitale, a UNESCO heritage site. Inaugurating the festival on Monday, July 14 is the Organ and Chorus of the Associazione Polifonica di Ravenna, followed, on July 21 by the Organ and Ensemble of Ottoni “Niccolò Piccinini”. Closing out the month on July 28 is the organist Jhoannes Skudlik. Admission to the festival is free.

Also near Ravenna, in Cotignola, just a few kilometers from the sea, music, poetry and art will come together in a very special setting,  "In the bails of hay arena", among blades of grass and vine amphorae, the public will be delighted by the sounds of violins and cellos, dances and songs.  Visitors can also enjoy aperitifs with music and participate in unique events at the first light of dawn.  Among the various artists worth mentioning is Ramin Bahrami who will perform on July 20 in the Goldberg Variations.  From July 17 to 22.

A unique sensory experience can be had by night owls and early birds alike at the "Concerts at dawn" on the beaches of Cesenatico (Fc). The festival starts out with Russia, with the great musician and composer Sofija Gubajdulina the exceptional star of the inaugural concert, on schedule on July 22 in the wonderful setting of the Abbey of San Mercuriale in Forlì. The trip will end in Latin America with the Orquesta Filarmonica National De Mexico UNAM, the oldest professional symphonic group of Mexico City and one of the best Mexican companies, who will close out the festival on September 16 at the Teatro Ebe Stignani di Imola.

Going down the coast, we find jazz with the "Riccione Inn Jazz Summer".  In the garden of Villa Mussolini, in Riccione, fans of improvised music can watch the performances of Italian musicians that are famous worldwide, while enjoying the tastings of local food and wine products.  The upcoming performances will be given by the Marco Tamburini Quartet on July 10, Tullio De Piscopo on July 21 and 22.
