Cattolica Aquarium

The Cattolica Aquarium, the most important aquarium of the Adriatic coast, 2,500,000 liters of seawater host more than 3000 examples of 400 different species. A magical place where nature shows its beauty and fun with four different tours all of which are completely covered so that they can be enjoyed rain or shine.

On the Blue Path, visitors can experience something very unique: “face to face with sharks”.  Visitors can go scuba-diving every Sunday – advance booking is required – inside the huge bull shark tank in 700,000 liters of seawater, protected by a completely safe steel cage.

Also amazing the public will be the new baby caimans and the most playful and cute animals on the planet, the otters, a relatively new addition to the Yellow Path, one of the most interesting areas of the park thanks to two very impressive tanks.

At certain times at the Aquarium it is possible to see one of the most spectacular moments of the day: the feeding of the sharks, penguins, otters and the Pelagic stingrays.

Full of hundreds of different lifeforms, the four sections of this two kilometer, completely covered marine park will give both adults and children the time of their life.

The "Blue Path", with more than 100 tanks and two and a half million liters of seawater, is populated by penguins, turtles, sharks, jellyfish and many other animals present in the Mediterranean Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific, the Indian Ocean and in the coral reefs of the Red Sea. This path shows the history of the Earth and its biological evolution with tanks that hold species that have survived over millions of years, such as the large sharks which are considered living fossils.  Here you can admire more than 3000 examples of 400 different species, every Sunday with advanced booking, you can also experience the excitement of scuba-diving in the big tank. There is also a touch tank which also hosts Pelagic rays – flat sharks which are cousins of the rays – which can be touched by visitors.

Then there is the “Green Path” which goes through a fascinating and mysterious place populated by exotic animals such as chameleons, frogs, insects, and serpents, while along the “Purple Path” visitors can discover the sounds made by sea creatures and how fish, marine mammals and invertebrates communicate.  Completing this daylong adventure is the “Yellow Path”, dedicated to the discovery of the sea and navigation systems.  In two spectacular tanks, you can also meet this year's stars of the park the caimans and otters, the most friendly and funny animals in the world.

Symbol of the marine park, and the undisputed queen of the shark tank, the bull shark Brigitte - more than 3 meters long and weighing about 150 kilos - has been living since 2002 with 10 other bull sharks and nurse sharks.
