Theatres in the region inaugurated with works of the Maestro
Towards the middle of the 19th century the wide popularity of lyrical opera, and especially that of Verdi, helped to increase notably the already plentiful theatres of the region.
Verdi's popularity and success occasioned the inauguration of many theatres in the Region, whether new or newly renovated:
In the province of Bologna these were, The Municipal Theatre of San Giovanni in Persiceto (Rigoletto, 1860), The Municipal Theatre of Crevalcore (Il Trovatore, 1881), The Municipal Theatre of Pieve di Cento(Il Trovatore and Rigoletto, 1856);
In the province of Reggio Emilia The Municipal Theatre of Novellara (I Lombardi alla prima crociata, 1868);
In the province of Piacenza, The "Giuseppe Verdi" Theatre of Fiorenzuola d'Arda (Attila, 1853); The "Giuseppe Verdi" Theate of Ferrara (Aida, 1913); The "Giuseppe Borgatti" Theatre of Cento (Ferrara) with La Traviata (1861);
The "Vittorio Emanuele" Theatre of Rimini, now partially destroyed, with Il Trovatore (1857), in the presence of the musician.
