Info about the earthquake for the Emilia-Romagna tourists

Tourist information: Ferrara and the Adriatic Coast after the May 20th earthquake. By Centro Unificato di Informazioni Turistiche - Ferrara.

The earthquake in Emilia Romagna has only affected some rural areas between the provinces of Ferrara and Modena. Transports, motorways and trains are running normally in the area. Both accommodation facilities and restaurants in Ferrara, Comacchio, Lidi Ferraresi and the Po Delta Park are open as usual. As always, it is advisable to get in direct touch with the tourist facilities, in order to check availability. Ferrara is fully operating, anyway some historical buildings have been slightly damaged. At the moment, some museums and monuments are undergoing necessary checks, in order to be re-opened as soon as possible. The official website,, will be constantly updated.

At the moment, the re-openings of the National Archaeological Museum (with its normal schedule: 9.30am-5.00pm; last ticket 4.30pm) and of the Contemporary Art Gallery (with the exhibition “VIOLENCE . XV Biennale Donna”, running until June, 10th) have been confirmed. The re-opening of exhibition “SOROLLA. GIARDINI DI LUCE”, at Palazzo dei Diamanti, is scheduled for Saturday, May 26, while the Estense Castle will probably re-open during the weekend.


At the moment, the following museums are open:

The exhibition “SOROLLA. GIARDINI DI LUCE”, at Palazzo dei Diamanti, will be re-opened as soon as possible. The Estense castle will be open to the public and fully operating from Sunday, May 27th.

The PALIO DI FERRARA races, scheduled for next Sunday, May 27th, will take place on
June. The new schedule is still to be defined.


- The Call Center Ferrara Mostre e Musei is working already, and it can be contacted at 0039 0532 244949.
- The Tourist Information Office, at the Este Castle, is at your disposal on the telephone, from 9am to 1pm and from 2pm to 6pm, and it will soon be re-opened to public access.
- From today, May 25th, an Info Point is organized at Arts and Events, (Piazza Trento e Trieste - Comune di Ferrara stand), with the following schedule: Friday 25th, 10am-10pm; Saturday
26th, 10am-9pm; Sunday 27th, 10am-6pm.


The tourist destinations of the Comacchio Riviera and Po Delta Park are fully operating, and no
damages were done to them.
