Going to exhibitions in the art cities

Our quick overview is aimed at offering you a range of events for visitors staying in cities or ancient towns, which will transform your free time into a memorable experience.

At first we would like to draw attention to Ferrara, the setting of the exhibition "Head and Heart", part of the fourth edition of the Festival of Jewish Books in Italy. This exhibition houses the rare documents, books and artworks from Gianfranco Moscati's collection, a famous Italian collector and scholar of antisemitism.  Until June 30. Free Admission.

Ferrari Museum House was inaugurated where soon the exhibit “How is a Supercar born?” will be held, a show which tells how Maranello has developed and how one of a kind cars are created, both technically was well as stylistically.  Besides the new Supercar, also the history of the Ferrari Supercars will be presented starting with the 250 GTO, and continuing with the 288 GTO, the F40, the F50 and the Enzo. Until September 30.

delvaus small JPGThe Magnani Rocca Foundation, in Mamiano di Traversetolo, near Parma, will kick off the spring season with a new exhibition dedicated to "Delvaux and Surrealism. An enigma among De Chirico, Magritte, Ernst and Man Ray" curated by Stefano Roffi in collaboration with the Musèe d'Ixelles-Bruxelles. This exhibition includes 80 works divided by theme and in which the enigma, perfectly surreal, regarding the adhesion, or lack thereof, of this artist to the creed of surrealism (he denied belonging to the moment, defining himself as a "realistic poet")  becomes the main focus of the overall exhibition. Until June 30. Staying in the area around Parma, there is also the reopening of the Reggia di Colorno and its magnificent rooms after the damages done to it during the earthquake, with the inauguration of the exhibition “Stile Italiano. Arte e società 1900-1930” (Italian Style. Art and Society 1900-1930). More than 150 selected works will offer a slice of life during the twentieth century that celebrates all things Italian or made in Italy, in particular the artistic, creative and esthetic complexity of Italy in the early 1900s.  Until June 30.

Verdi small JPGThe city of Parma will also dedicate events to Verdi, of particular interest given that this year is the bicentenary of the birth of this great composer.  At the exhibition "For Verdi, in Pilotta" for the first time ever the celebrated 'Ritratto del Maestro con il cilindro' (a portrait of Verdi) by Giovanni Boldini will be on display, a very evocative pastel done in just 3 hours in 1886.  Also on display will be the scarf, cylinder and Verdi's hat box featured in the portrait, another portrait and a series of documents belonging to the prestigious Music Section of the Palatina Library of Parma. Until June 23.

Fotog europea small JPGIf you are going to visit Reggio Emilia, the city of the "Tricolore", the Italian flag with its museum, beautiful porticoes and Baroque churches, you should not miss the exhibitions on display for the event European Photography 013, an internationally known exhibition dedicated to photography.  Open until June 16, the shows are divided into four exhibits dedicated to the theme “Change. Photography and responsibility”. Also in this city is the Collezione d’Arte Contemporanea Maramotti which is worth visiting. Located in the old Max Mara factory, this collection houses more than two hundred works representing the international artistic trends from 1945 to today. Admission is free. The Collection will also host, until July 31, the project of the Russian artist Evgeny Antufiev Twelve, wood, dolphin, knife, bowl, mask, crystal, bones and marble – fusion. Exploring materials". We also recommend going to "All the adventure of a mosaic", a permanent exhibition completely dedicated to the art of mosaics, in Ravenna, or to the little Pompei in the heart of Rimini - The Surgeon's Domus - which has become internationally famous for the materials deemed one of a kind, or the site of ancient Veleia Romana in Piacenza, with guided tours and a museum display.
