Experience Nature with Flavor in the Park of the Emilia Romagna Po Delta!

The annual event Primavera Slow 2011 is back at the Park of the Po Delta from March 26 to June 5, 2011, for a total of 11 weekends, with special events dedicated to discovering nature, the most evocative places, traditional tastes, and to the culture and art of the Emilia-Romagna Delta.

There are many events in this edition, among which is “Green Days: Ravenna smells like Park and… Truffles”, on March 26-27 and April 2-3, which will take place in the 1 Maggio Park in the Classe Pinewood for the occasion of the Pinewood Truffle Festival, and in Piazza Garibaldi in the center of Ravenna.  The special weekend “Comacchio: emotions between marshes and the sea” will take place from April 29 to May 1, with special initiatives, excursions, workshops, photography exhibitions and many other activities, while on May 21-22 and May 28-29, new itineraries will be offered along the Volano Po with the special event “Sailing and pedaling are special”.

Comacchio Valley

11 weekends with events dedicated to nature

Primavera Slow 2011 will involve the territory from Ferrara to Mesola, Goro and Gorino, from Comacchio to Argenta, from the Bando Oasis to Ostellato with outings on foot, by boat, by bicycle, on horseback and in electric shuttle buses to find out more about the natural heritage of a unique area, in which land and water mix together giving this place exceptional scenery, which will be discovered “on tiptoe”.

Moving southward, near Ravenna, it will be possible to appreciate fascinating places such as the San Vitale Pinewood, the Pialassa della Baiona, the Classe Pinewood and the Cervia Salt Pans, a very unique place and “home” to many species of birds, among which, avocet, black winged stilts, flamingoes and ducks. Besides excursions on foot, by bicycle or by boat, a visit should be paid to the visitors’ centers at the Cervia Saltworks, at the Butterfly & Co. House in Milano Marittima, and to the “Palazzone”, a 14th C. building commissioned by the Este family as a military garrison, in Sant’Alberto.

Numerous centers and museums, in fact, will host special events dedicated to nature and photography lovers with exhibitions, theory workshops and photography walks: themed excursions among the elegant dragonflies and colorful butterflies, photography outings accompanied by an expert photographer, enchanting nighttime excursions and, for sporty people, an event that cannot be missed – nordic walking on Sunday April 3 and Sunday May 22.

Furthermore, the ancient Pickling Factory in Comacchio will host two photography exhibitions of natural photos: “Il volo” curated by the photographers of Delta in focus, and the exhibition of the winning images from the Oasis Photo Contest 2010.  It will be a unique opportunity for photography fans and others, with very high quality images which capture the unique details and precise moments found in nature.

For sports fans, there will be countless sports meetings, competitions and bike rides. Traditional flavors will be the stars of festivals and special events, which combine pleasing the palate with art, with aperitifs at the Museum and original guided tastings. As usual, particular attention will be given to children with several activities created just for them, such as fun didactic labs and guided visits for learning through games and fun.

Smells like… Truffles with the Green Days in Ravenna

Primavera Slow will open its doors on March 26 with “Green Days: Ravenna smells like Park… and truffles”, a special event in the Classe Pinewood in the 1 Maggio Park and the historical downtown of the byzantine city of Ravenna, which will continue also on the weekend of April 2-3.  In the historic center, there will be an information booth offering a free shuttle bus and bicycles for reaching the pinewoods, while in 1 Maggio Park, the 33rd Truffle Festival will host a market of typical products and a food stand.

Some light will be shed on the sections of the regional Park of the Po Delta through the project “The Park Showcase”, with nature photography exhibitions, artistic-creative and didactic labs and the presence of the National Park of the Casentinesi Forests.  Also, there will be many sports and recreational activities, among which is the “Swarm of bicycles” on April 3, a bike ride around the center of the city along tracks, bike paths and paths through the pinewoods, all full of history and charm, all the way up to the Classe 1 Maggio Park.

Special Event Comacchio and Marshes

Comacchio and its marshes will be the stars of this special weekend entitled “Comacchio: emotions among the Marshes and the Sea”, from April 29 to May 1:  three days of activities and exclusive excursions, free guided tours, tastings and aperitifs with traditional flavors, bird watching lessons, bike outings and bike rides dedicated to tastes, labs for kids and, of course, fascinating boat trips, with the chance to visit old fishing huts and eel traps. Furthermore, nature photography will have a starring role, thanks to the exhibitions of the photographs by Delta in Focus and the 2010 edition of the international Oasis Photo Contest of the famous magazine Oasis, all of which will be set in the historic Pickling  Factory; there will also be theory and hands-on workshops, photography walks and exciting evening film showings.

By boat and bike along the Volano Po

A great new event in this edition of Primavera Slow 2011 is “Sailing and pedaling are special”, a brand new special event organized within the project Datourway.  For the occasion, new itineraries along the Volano Po will be tried out, to discover enchanting little towns and their hidden “treasures”, with the chance to get to know wine and food products from the places visited. In particular, on May 21 and 22, the trip will go from Codigoro to Lagosanto and Goro, while on May 28 and 29, the route will start out from Ferrara and will end up in Massafiscaglia.
