Celebrating Archeological Museums

Once again this year, May 1 will be synonymous with culture, and the public will find all the archeological museums and sites overseen by the Superintendency of Archeological Heritage of Emilia Romagna open, with exhibitions, free guided tours and admission tickets at reduced prices.

The National Archaeologic Museum in Ferrara will be open from 9.00am to 7.00pm (last admission at 6.30pm - € 5,00) with the opportunity to visit the exhibition “Men who stalk women. The non-images of domestic violence on vases found at the necropolis in Spina", curated by the archeologist Mario Cesarano, open until June 30.


Also open from 1.30 to 7.30pm (the ticket office closes at 7pm - € 4,00) is the National Archeologic Museum in Parma, with guided tours of Parma archeology from the prehistoric era to the Longobards and the opportunity to visit the exhibition “History of early Parma. Etruscans, Gauls, Romans: the origins of the city in light of recent archeological finds" curated by Daniela Locatelli, Luigi Malnati and Daniele F. Maras, open until June 2.


The National Etruscan Museum in Marzabotto (Bo), open from 9.00am to 6.30pm (€ 2,00), will offer visitors free guided tours with the archeologists Tiziano Trocchi (at 10.00am) and Silvana Sani (at 3.00pm).


The National Archaeologic Museum in Sarsina (Fc), Plautus's hometown, will be open from  8.30am to 1.30pm and it will be possible to visit from 9.00am to 7.00pm (last entrance at 6.30pm - € 2,00) the archeological sites of the Villa Romana in Russi (Ra) (€ 2,00) and the Antiquarium and ruins of the ancient Roman municipium of Veleia (€ 2,00), in Lugagnano Val d’Arda (Pc).
