Museum Night

NottedeiMusei.jpgThis is a great event, involving all of Europe, created to promote and spread the knowledge of the cultural heritage to as many citizens as possible.  Besides free admission and extraordinary opening times, many museums participating in this event have organized special activities for adults and children.


Also our region will be participating in this event with numerous activities, like in Piacenza where the Civic Museums of Palazzo Farnese will host, among other things, "Stories of Beauty and Costumes from Rome to Today," guided visits with theater performances and entertainment for adults and children, symphonic music, DJ sets, and local wine tastings.  In the Rocca Viscontea in Castell'Arquato, near Piacenza, guided tours with entertainment and live music will take visitors on a fantastic journey of emotions through pieces taken from the most famous books by Italo Calvino. At the end of the tour, there will be wine tastings and a buffet of numerous delights.


The museums, fortresses and castles of Parma and its province will be open to the public with extended hours and extraordinary events to celebrate Museum Night. Among the events, a few noteworthy ones are the concert at the National Gallery, at 8.30pm, in the Maria Luigia Salone and the art itineraries in the north wing of the Pilotta among sacred stories, still-lifes and landscape paintings. The guided visits and the concert of voices and "sound stones" at the Certosa di Paradigma Church with video clips from "The Thousand.  Pictures for a history of Italy."  Then a performance by the sculpture Pinuccio Sciola.  In the Torrechiara Castle, guided visits and a concert by the soprano Maria Irene Patta accompanied by Maestro Roberto Barrali. Extended hours also at the Castle of Music in Noceto, with a concert for violin, lute, classic guitar, and cello given by Rodrigo Bandini, Letizia Bonomi, Aldo Ferrari, and Giacomo Fossa. The doors will also be open at the Verdi Theater in Busseto and Verdi's Birth Home in Roncole. Complete program of events and info: Museum Night, Parma and surrounding areas.


Reggio Emilia will participate in the event by opening the doors free of charge to the exhibitions on display for the "European Photography 2012" event. There will be activities in Correggio with "Glamor Night at the Museum", guided tours by torchlight, and in Poviglio, where the Museum of Terramara di Santa Rosa, from 9 pm to midnight, will host a photography competition for kids called "Me and my Museum: coverage from the Bronze age".  In Guastalla, near Reggio Emilia, there will be the nighttime opening of the Little Motorcycle Museum. In Modena, this event coincides with "White Night" which involves the entire downtown with shops, restaurants, and bars open all night along and concerts, events, and shows that will make this a really unique night.  All the museums will be open until midnight with guided tours and special events.  You can also visit the churches of Sant'Agostino, San Giovanni Battista, San Biagio, chiesa del Voto, and the monumental Temple to those fallen in war, with concerts and guided tours. In Forlì, the San Domenico Museum complex, open until 11 pm, offers guided tours of the beautiful and interesting Wildt exhibition and the concert of the Benedetti-Veroli-Gardini trio with music by Vivaldi, Paganini and Goltermann. In Forlimpopoli, at the Tobia Aldini Civic Archeological Museum, open until 11 pm, on schedule there is "Oh what a lovely Castle!", a journey through antiquity and the present through guided tours in costume of the Museum and of the most beautiful renaissance castles in Romagna. Info: Museum night in Forlì and surrounding areas


The Archeological Museum of Ferrara will participate with "Divine Sips of Art", a night dedicated to Etruscan civilization. The star of this event will be wine with guided tastings by expert producers and sommelier. Enlivening the night are mini concerts of piano and guitar while at 9 pm the guided tours will begin. The doors of Casa dei Romei will also be open, with a description of the restoration of the rooms and frescoes that were found.  At the National Gallery, guided tours will be held of the exhibition "Local Ferrara Painters between the end of the 1400s and the beginning of the 1500s.  Comparing generations." Along the coast, near Ferrara, the Abbey of Pomposa and the Roman Ship Museum in Comacchio await visitors: here, after the nighttime guided tour, a good night snack will be offered.  Info: Museum Night in Ferrara and nearby.


At the Museum of Art of the City of Ravenna, from 7 pm to 10 pm, free admission to the Gallery and reduced admission to the great exhibition “The Misery and splendor of flesh”. Again at 7 pm, there will be a chocolate and “Sangue Morlacco” tasting, a historic cherry brandy offered by Luxardo. Evening openings with free admission also at the Museums of the Superintendency of Ravenna. The National Museum will host various events starting with the “Clanging of arms and Drum rolls" and, from 11 pm to 1 am, “Fable of rock, glass and gold", the showing of short films. Also near Ravenna in Sant’Alberto, there's the nighttime opening of NatuRa Museum with educational games for kids ages 7 to 11.  At the end, kids with a sleeping bag can sleep at the Museum.  Upon awakening, there will be guided visits to the marshlands of Comacchio.  Info: Museum Night in  Ravenna and surrounding areas.
