Open Towns in Emilia-Romagna 2015

Twenty-three of the most beautiful and fascinating historic towns in Emilia Romagna, from Piacenza to the hills of Rimini, will "open their doors" on Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4, with a wide range of food events, shows and entertainment, markets and local crafts, and visits to museums, castles and historic palaces.

A weekend to discover slow rhythms, folklore and the most authentic traditions, old flavors, and direct contact with people, immersed in the magical and romantic atmosphere of some of the most beautiful towns in Italy, among fortresses, towers, ancient bridges and old noble palaces.

There is so much to choose from: from the “Hunt for the literary ghost” in Vigarano Mainarda near Ferrara (a game-performance for families and children along the streets of the town to discover books and novels, Saturday, October 3 from 8.30pm) to “Mangiarsano” (healthy eating) in Montefiore Conca (Rn), an event on organic and quality nutrition dedicated this year to rice with markets, tastings and conventions, and “Gambeinspalla”, the hiking event along the paths of the valley of Bobbio, near Piacenza (Sunday, October 4, at 8.30am), and “Borgo Indie” in Brisighella (Ra), two days dedicated to independent and creative productions with  musicians, craftsmen, winemakers, editors and artists.  And also “Il Gusto della Cultura” in Fontanellato (Pr), nighttime visits to the castle with entertainment and dinner, “Novellara Balsamica”, two days in Novellara (Mo) with conferences, workshops and tastings entirely dedicated to the Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, and the unmissable “Pennabilli Rock”, the climbing meeting with cocktails, dinners and music in Pennabilli (Rn).

And then there are the curious and unique museums, palaces with a fascinating history, monuments and historic places, all open for guided tours both during the day and at night, and of course the markets and fairs of seasonal foods, exhibitions, local food and wine, shows and entertainment for adults and children.

Guaranteeing the uniqueness of these towns are the many recognitions they have obtained, from the Orange Flags of the Italian Touring Club to the Most Beautiful Towns of Italy, as well as the Slow Cities of Slow Food, the Authentic Towns and the “Jewels of Italy”.

In Emilia Romagna there are a total of 48 towns with certificates officially recognized both nationally and internationally.
