The warm waters of Bagno di Romagna have been used for treatments and wellness since two millennia. Considered as healthy cults, they already gained fame in prehistoric times throughout the surrounding area, giving birth to this charming town of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennine.

In ancient times, these waters were thought to be miraculous and of divine nature, a precious gift of the unknown and mysterious depths of the earth.

But today we can still define them as a small “miracle” of nature. Part of the rain that falls near the Mount Comero penetrates the subsoil up to a depth of 1,400 meters and then comes back to surface and emerges in the spring of S. Agnese.

A period ranging from 450 to 650 years is necessary to the water in order to follow this underground path. Due to a geothermal effect, water heats up and loads itself with minerals taken from the rock layers it crosses: once enriched with healthy properties, when re-emerges, is a real balm for body and skin!

The thermal swimming pool

Besides the several spas present in the country, a great opportunity to enjoy these waters is offered by the thermal swimming pool, open all year round, even in the evening.

Located next to the "Euroterme" spa complex, the swimming pool consists of two communicating basins. One is outdoors, 250 sqm, and the other one is indoors, 100 sqm and are continuously fed with sulphurous alkaline bicarbonate water.

Both swimming pools are equipped with hydromassage jets along the walls and geysers.

The water temperature, constantly maintained at 34°C -37 °C (45°C at the source), is similar to that of human body, favoring the psycho-physical recovery and a complete relaxation of mind and body, as well as making the skin as soft as velvet!

For those who wish to spend a few more days in the waters of wellness, the Euroterme Spa complex offers a fitness centre with various Technogym equipment including rowing machine, step, exercise bike, treadmill and weight bench.

How to get there

Take the A14, exit at Cesena Nord and then follow the E/45 towards Rome until the "Bagno di Romagna" or "San Piero in Bagno” road marking (48 km). From Rome, follow the A1 up to Orte and then take the E/45 until the "Bagno di Romagna" or "San Piero in Bagno” road marking (265 km). From Florence, you can choose to take the Autostrada del Sole to Arezzo, and then continue on the SS 73 to Sansepolcro and the E/45 to Bagno di Romagna (150 km); or you can take the “historic route”: Florence - Pontassieve - Consuma - Bibbiena - Passo dei Mandrioli - Bagno di Romagna (88 km).
