From 25 European countries, 6000 young musicians ages 12 and 25 will come to Emilia-Romagna to participate in one of the most important events dedicated to young people. Allegromosso, the festival of music schools from all over Europe is aimed at getting young people of different nationalities together to contribute to the creation of a united Europe, through music. This year it has reached its eleventh edition and will host, from May 17 to 19, more than 400 concerts in various towns throughout Emilia-Romagna and along the coast in the provinces of Rimini, Forlì-Cesena, Ravenna and Ferrara.



This year the festival will be broadcasted on Radio 1 Rai, and on the three evenings of the festival there will be specific themes broadcasted live and the awards ceremony will be broadcast as part of the program Demo, with prizes for the best European bands.


There are 220 groups performing 450 concerts in 25 towns, from Rimini to the Po Delta.  Over 40 places will be involved from squares to theaters, fortresses and castles, characteristic places in cities and historic and seaside towns, as the setting for the concerts.

There are also other musical events planned for the occasion, many in cities with important European projects dedicated to preserving cultural and environmental heritage, which will frame the concerts by students on May 18 and 19, 2012.

Also noteworthy at AllegroMosso are the special events.  On May 17, Pala de Andrè and Piazza San Francesco in Ravenna will host the opening ceremonies with the youth symphonic Orchestra of Emilia Romagna directed by Maestro Wayne Marshall; on May 18, in Sant’Arcangelo di Romagna, there will be DemoRai, with two famous hosts Michael Pergolani and Renato Marengo, who will give out the first place prizes; on May 19 the festival will close with a grand finale concert at the Ippodromo in Cesena, with the participation of Goran Bregovic and his orchestra, which will play  with the young musicians.

In the days leading up to the event, from May 15 to 17, 70 representatives of the national associations of 26 countries will meet in Riccione, for the General Assembly of Emu - European Musicschool Union.


This event was created by the Region Emilia-Romagna in collaboration with Aidsm (Associazione italiana delle Scuole di musica) and Assonanza (Associazione delle Scuole di musica dell’Emilia-Romagna) and has since its beginning enjoyed large participation on the part of Emu – European Musicschool Union.
