Children's Festival

The Adriatic Riviera in Emilia Romagna will dedicate seven days of parties to children and families with the first edition of the “Children's Festival” from June 14 to 21.  There are more than one hundred events on schedule in the towns along the 110 kilometers of Emilia Romagna coastline, from the Lidi di Comacchio to Cattolica.

A “taste” of the events on schedule?  It is almost hard to choose among the numerous offers tied to the world of nature and animals, the activities on the beach and sports events, and of course entertainment, shows, learning labs and cultural happenings, courses and workshops, all of which can be found on the event website.

Staring from the North, the calendar of the Riviera di Comacchio (Fe) offers guided visits of farms, a barter market, sports such as beach tennis, volleyball, table football, the Chupa Chup party, a Nutella Party at Lido degli Scacchi and the Gelato Party in Porto Garibaldi, where there will also be a campus dedicated to adventure, the Birdy Rangers in collaboration with the Protezione Civile.  On the evening of June 21, in Comacchio, there will be a boat show - the classic “Batane” - with light shows, music, and fireworks.  The special guest will be writer Marcello Simoni, who will tell children the story of the "Golden Spider".

In the province of Ravenna you can choose nature tours, such as the guided visit in the Po Delta Park to discover animals and their tracks, after an informative workshop, or an artistic itinerary to learn about mosaics as well as the exhibition “L’incanto dell’affresco”, a visit to the  Marionette Museum, puppet and circus shows, and evenings dedicated to the stars at the Planetarium of Ravenna.

In Riolo Terme visitors should not miss the “Night at the Castle”, held inside the Fortess with readings and games in the shadows of mystery.  Also near Ravenna, the theme park Mirabilandia will host a two-day event (June 21-22) dedicated to the world of the famous Japanese cartoon saga and toys, Pokemon, with tournaments on portable consoles, board games and challenges dedicated to the characters of this fantastic world.

Also part of this festival is “Ecovacanza” in Cervia (Ra) with many learning and recreational activities for children ages 6 to 13 who will learn to respect nature while gaining experience in the field.  Also in Cervia, at the Butterfly house, it will be possible to discover the secrets of the butterflies in the tropical greenhouse with their spectacular colors, witness the first flight of the newborns, and participate in “Tropical Jungle” with events dedicated to the jungle.  In Cervia there will also be guided tours in the Nature Park of Cervia of the farm animals, entertainment on the beach, and, at the Salt Mine Visitors Center, the learning lab “Jack Salino” will help kids discover the history and characteristics of "white gold", Cervia salt.  From June 19 to 29, Cervia will also host “Bimb’Oper”, the festival honoring Romagna excellences in childhood and child raising.

Cesenatico (Fc) will host archeological digging labs on the beach, fun sporting events - from obstacle courses to a laughing competition - and the event “Puppets on the seashore”.  One of the highlights will definitely be the wandering show of the cartoon characters from Peppa Pig in Gatteo a Mare, while for a week San Mauro a Mare will become “Pleasure Island” with the participation of comics, mimes, puppets, and games on the beach - from cheecoting to target practice, and a “piñata” - with evening shows for families.

Fun is guaranteed in Bellaria-Igea Marina (Rn) with the Children's Carnival, the parade of which will reach San Mauro a Mare, with events such as labs and creative activities on the beach dedicated to the sea, sports, and films for kids on the beach.

Rimini offers cooking labs for children to teach them the traditional local specialties (at the Spas for the Blue Night on June 14), music shows and clowns, and a sand castle competition for families.  At the City Museum the event “Little Ancient World Festival” will bring back, for the occasion of the 2000th anniversary of the Tiberus Bridge, the everyday life of this city in the Roman era.  There will also be many events at the theme park “Miniature Italy” in Rimini: from the rally “Italy in Cosplay” (the very fun hobby where people dress up as their favorite cartoon character) to the party "Hurray for Summer" with water games, water battles, and huge soap bubbles.

For those who will be in Riccione from June 10 to 13, there will be a big preview of the Festival.  On June 10, it is a date with “Peppa Pig” (games, entertainment, pictures taken with characters) while from June 11 to 13 there will be the show “Tata Lucia” (where the most famous nanny in Italy will meet with families) and the event dedicated to families and children “Riccione Family Week”.  Also in the "Green Pearl" of the Adriatic during the week of the festival, there will be “Mammafit Village” (June 15-22) on the beach where all the moms present can try out exercises with a stroller or lessons in the water with their children.

Misano Adriatico offers an event with comic theater, puppets and juggling, the "Puppet Manifesto" together with the “Ducati Kid’s Tour”, a fun sporting event for kids.

In Cattolica there will be the animation show “Winx Family Emotion-Show Live” for dreaming with Winx, the most famous fairies in the world.

There are many fascinating and economic packages for staying in the Riviera for families with their children.  The website “The Children's Festival” also has the numerous other events and activities on schedule throughout the year along the Romagna coast.

In all the towns and in the Information Offices and Tourist Offices along the coast, the program is handed out free of charge along with a book-game for kids to color and draw in, made by the Rimini illustrator Marianna Balducci, who tells of the unexpected places and treasures on the Riviera.  The book-game will also be given out during the events of the Festival.
