The Children’s Festival - June 11-18

A whole week of celebrations for children and families will be held, from June 11 to 18, along the Romagna Riviera for the occasion of the third edition of the “Children’s Festival”.

 

Acting as the stage for this event are the 110 kilometers of coastline from Comacchio to Cattolica with entire towns getting involved, as well as fun parks and recreation areas, for more than 40 events accompanied by vacation deals in Romagna along the Riviera, an area quite specialized in accommodating families with children, where hotels are equipped for this type of clientele and there are play areas set up on the beaches.

 


 

Going from North to South along the Emilia Romagna Riviera, among the various events on schedule, Lido di Volano (June 11-12 – bagno Play Ground), near Ferrara, offers a party with inflatables on the beach called “Gonfiabilandia” and, at the agriturismo “Valle Isola - La Tana del gusto” in San Giuseppe di Comacchio there will be (June 11-12) an outdoor party where children and families can discover nature.

 

There will be many events in Ravenna. At the Loggetta Lombardesca and in the public gardens, there will be puppet shows (June 17-18) and, at the public gardens, there will be two wooden circuits for theMarble Festival” (June 17-18). Also in Ravenna at the National Museum, a fun guide-game will be given out that will accompany, in a fun and lighthearted manner, young visitors around the art collections housed here. There are also two curious events on schedule. On June 12 there will be the Pinecone Hunt” (a walking tour looking for pinecones, peacocks and other fun symbols around town) while on June 18 there will be “Birdwatching in the Basilica”, an interesting visit to the Byzantine Basilicas to discover the local birds present in the mosaics. From June 13 to 17, the learning labs of RavennaAntica will organize fun days with games at the TAMO museum. Also in Ravenna, at the Planetarium, on June 11 and 17, baby guests will be guided in discovering the starry sky with its constellations and planets.

 

In Cervia, at some of the bathing establishments, from June 13 to 17 there will be a free open day of beach tennis and, in some places around Cesenatico (from June 11 to 17), creative workshops will be held, as well as games and fun physical activities. Also in Cesenatico the Cooperativa Stabilimenti Balneari will organize (from June 12 to 18) the initiativeArcheological Beaches”, a series of workshops of archeological digs on seven beaches where all participants, guided by experts, will receive an “archeologist’s kit” with all the necessary materials to do a dig. Cesenatico will then host, from June 13-18, also the festival of live readings called “Parole al Cartoccio” with five itinerant shows with the participation of some of the most important children’s book authors. There will also be movies on schedule at the Children’s Festival. On June 15 and 16 in Cesenatico two short films will be shown from the festival “Animare” on schedule in July.

 

Music will be the focus, on June 11 and 12, in Gatteo a Mare, for the singing contest “FestivalMar”! – hosted by Cristina d’Avena – for kids ages 6 to 16. Gatteo a Mare has also organized (on June 16 in various locations around the city) aRoman Festivalwith children as the stars and a show with jesters and jugglers (June 15). Musicals, cabaret, theater and cinema are all part of the initiative “Il paese dei balocchi” on schedule every evening from June 11 to 18 in San Mauro Mare while in nearby Bellaria-Igea Marina on June 17 there will be theChildren’s Carnival” (a big party with a parade of allegorical floats dedicated to the most loved children’s cartoons), youth tournaments of beach volleyball (June 11-12) and beach soccer (June 12), as well as the children’s market (June 16).

 

There will be room for kids also in Rimini for the “Piccolo Mondo Antico Festival” which will be held from June 11 to 12 in the Museo della Città to discover Roman Rimini with its history, its personalities and its symbols. Rimini Terme will instead beinvadedby Legos from June 18 to 19 where children, parents and grandparents can play with one of the most loved pastimes ever. And, also in Rimini, from June 18 to 19 at the Convention Center, there will be the event “Bimbinfiera” dedicated to children and families, while on the beach, bagno 45 will be the stage for the magic bubble show, balloon sculptures, musical games and face-painting with “Fata Arcobaleno”.

 

From June 12 to 26 the beach in Riccione will host the event “Mamma Fit”, workouts dedicated to new mothers and their children. Villa Mussolini will be the location (June 16-19) of music, entertainment, and creative workshops for “Riccione Family Week con Coccole Sonore”.

 

Misano Adriatico offers (June 11, 13 and 16) the festival of shows for childrenDreamcatcher”. In Piazza Primo Maggio in Cattolica on June 17 there will be the musical show “Banana Split”.

 

Also worth mentioning are two events that will be held just inland from Rimini. On June 12 San Leo will transform into theCity of Children", where kids will be welcomed with games, workshops, demos and shows, while discovering nature’s biodiversity will be the theme of the days on schedule from June 11 to 18 at the Oasis Wwf di Ca’ Brigida in Verucchio.

 

There are also many interesting events throughout the week at the many theme parks along the Riviera.
